The Scoop on applying foundation
without the breakouts that follow:
Ladies, we have all struggled from trying to get that clear, even skin tone and then had to suffer with the results of breakouts that follow. I have a few secrets that have had amazing results. I constantly get the question, “who does your makeup?” and “wow, you must have been blessed with great skin,” but the truth is knowing how to apply foundation and the secret trick that has been preventing me from breakouts for years.

I begin by washing and exfoliating my face. This is like a painter having a clean canvas and should not be overlooked. The next step is the secret to avoid break outs - apply acne cream to your most oily and zit-prone areas, then the key to the secret is let it fully dry. This allows the pores to absorb the cream which gives you a protection barrier between your skin and your foundation. Next, apply a light layer of facial moisturizer. This is crucial because it softens the skin, allowing you to use a lot less concealer and foundation cream so that you can avoid the caked-on look. After moisturizer comes the concealer. Apply this on all blemishes, under the eyes, and on the bridge of your nose. I like to apply a light layer on my eye lids to use as an eye shadow primer. After you have lightly massaged the concealer in, apply liquid foundation to your cheeks. Less is more when it comes to this, girls. Run the foundation up through the cheek bones and down the neck to ensure an even smooth look. The final touch is using a loose pack powder. I like to use a very thick brush when applying the powder as it gives a very finished, even look. Apply powder starting at the forehead and apply all the down the neck. Be sure to use downward strokes - this will create a smooth look.

By following these simple steps you will have the clear, even beautiful skin that you have been wanting. Check back next week for another beauty secret by Mary. Until then, be your most beautiful!
